Campus Compact VISTA University of Wisconsin - Madison, WI
 
 
 
The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Wisconsin - Madison will serve at a VISTA project which increases the capacity of the University for highly effective, mutually-beneficial partnerships with anti-poverty nonprofit organizations in Wisconsin through an enhanced liaison and partnership support model. The focus of these partnerships will be organizational capacity-building activities to realize anti-poverty missions. Partnering organizations focus on ensuring healthy futures through work on food security, opioid use treatment, and community empowerment. The AmeriCorps member will partner with 6-8 nonprofit organizations to refine the standard intake process with nonprofits’ seeking university partnership, refine the matching of these nonprofits with courses that engage in community-based learning partnerships and support these courses, support use and development of a new Customer Relations Management database to track partnerships, match and support partnership opportunities, and enhance intra-campus communication. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $575.40 in Dane County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide professional development and training. The AmeriCorps member serving at the University of Wisconsin - Madison will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at UW-Madison will serve a key role in implementing the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Civic Action Plan. The AmeriCorps member will build the capacity of UW-Madison for partnership with Wisconsin nonprofits focused on addressing poverty and especially promoting healthy futures for our communities. This position will be based at the University of Wisconsin-Madison Center for Community and Nonprofit Studies (the CommNS) in the School of Human Ecology. Additional supervision will be provided by UW South Madison Partnership (UWSMP). Some travel to meet with partnering nonprofit organizations around the state is anticipated.
