The AmeriCorps member will help MxCC build capacity in career and technical education by performing activities such as analyzing current programs, evaluating what programs still need internships, going through the school governance process, and facilitating conversations with organizations in the community who are interested in hosting MxCC interns. Ultimately, the AmeriCorps member will work with our management team to locate funds for paid internships for low income students. This position is perfect for someone who is passionate about helping students overcome poverty, is interested in building relationships, and attracted to a career in higher education. The AmeriCorps member will benefit from guidance in various departments on our campus and develop connections to businesses and organizations in our network. The AmeriCorps member will receive a $613.48 bi weekly allowance, free or reduced CSCU courses, professional development, public transportation, and grocery gift cards.

Member Duties : Evaluate current internship programs and create system for tracking Contact all faculty Program Coordinators to address current requirements of their program and any needs Create a system and catalog all procedures for each individual program’s internship requirements Prepare list of needs from faculty to further develop current programs Develop internship programs where needed through resource development Meet with faculty Program Coordinators for majors that do not currently have an internship or a work experience program Create policies and procedures for new internships Fill out all “Create Course” documents and bring through MxCC governance system for approval Strengthen current relationships with community partners
