Opportunity Council - EWRRC - Summer Youth Education VISTA

The Kids Days of Summer supports rural youth in staying engaged with fun educational materials, physical fitness, and social skills to slow and prevent the dreaded "summer slide". This year the program will be primarily outdoors with loads of room for creative programing to support health and connection after such a difficult past 18 months. Running Mondays through Thursdays 9AM-12PM the rest of the days and Fridays will be available to plan and prepare for the upcoming activities. If possible, summer meals will also be part of our programming this year. This position is located in a beautiful rural areas 30min east of Bellingham. Carpooling from Bellingham with other VISTA members will be an option.

Member Duties : VISTAs will help plan and execute relevant, fun, and safe programing using past years’ processes as a template to build on. Working with new and past partner local non-profit agencies, we will co-create a robust and satisfying program for youth in this rural community. Some time will be given to have applicable trainings including: Community Capacity Building, NEAR Science, DEI REACH, Community Tour, and more. Meal serving and prep along with set up and tear down activities will be part of the work. Outreach in the community with COVID safe protocols will be part of the work as well as data tracking for an end of program report. This is very much a team environment with many opportunities for collaboration and creative growth.
