Willis Dady Homeless Services, Engagement, IAMNCC

Willis Dady’s mission and vision are to provide emergency shelter and prevention services while empowering our clients to break the cycle of homelessness. The Willis Dady Engagement VISTA project will further develop our organization’s connection to the larger community through gathering stories and creating outward facing content and presentations. Ultimately this work will improve our service to individuals experiencing homelessness by expanding our ability to educate the public, apply for funding for our various needs, build programs, and advocate for affordable housing. The Engagement Coordinator will help Willis Dady through solidifying a training for future members in this position, conducting research on homelessness, and creating outward facing content from client interviews. Examples of what this content may be are photos, video, audio, and written materials. This position will require interaction with clients, project management, video/audio editing, and social media proficiency. Our Development Coordinator will be a resource and mentor for you in supervision, planning this project, using software, growing your content creation skills, and in best practices for research and sharing client stories.

Member Duties : Focus on gathering information & create educational materials to share with our community about homelessness. Conduct interviews, gather research, and create materials to educate our community on homelessness. Create videos, audio clips, designed images. Focus on community engagement with the materials created through presentations and engaging in creative community outreach with our partners. Strengthen Willis Dady’s connection to our community and assist in key strategic plan goals. Implement new strategies for outreach and community building. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. *Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.*
