Willis Dady Emergency Shelter Financial Stability, IAMNCC
 
 
 
The vision of Willis Dady Homeless Services is to empower clients to break the cycle of homelessness and become self-sufficient. Meaningful employment coupled with housing stability are two critical components for individuals making the journey out of poverty. The Employment Program at Willis Dady Homeless Services (WDHS) uses several strategies to support adults who are unhoused or have housing instability in overcoming barriers to the job market. The Financial Stability VISTA will work with Employment Program staff to expand the capacity of this service, so more adults facing high barriers to employment can make the journey out of poverty by gaining and maintaining financial stability. Goals of this position include researching, presenting, and implementing plans for social enterprise ideas developing business plans, and collaborating with area organizations and volunteers. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Member Duties : The Financial Stability VISTA will research best practices from successful social enterprises around the world. They will research sustainability, successes, failures, suggestions for social enterprise implementation. The Financial Stability VISTA will develop business plans related to the social enterprise and collaborate with Willis Dady Homeless Services Development Team on potential grants, donors, and other information to create the funding and financial projections. The VISTA will collaborate with other agencies, and organizations to support the implementation of the social enterprise and work with the Employment Team on all legalities. The Financial Stability VISTA will also be responsible for development of a training system for Apprentices in line with the social enterprise.
