Wellshare International IA & MN Campus Compact VISTA

WellShare International envisions a world where your zip code, your skin color, and your birthplace do not determine your access to quality healthcare, and where all people can achieve optimal health and wellness. WellShare is a non-profit organization headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a forty-year history of partnering with communities, health care systems, government, and social service providers. Using a community health worker (CHW) model, we work with immigrant communities in Minnesota and with rural communities in Africa. The VISTA will join a dynamic team addressing the impact of systemic racism in people’s ability to live healthy lives. Key WellShare programs that will be in the VISTA’s portfolio include our early childhood family home visiting program, East African Smoke-Free Project, Somali and Karen child spacing program, and several other of our Minnesota-based programs. As the VISTA volunteer, your key goal will be to help refugees and immigrants overcome barriers to healthy living by leading participatory approaches for the creation of new cross-cutting systems and tools to increase WellShare’s organizational capacity in program monitoring and evaluation, community partnership development and service outreach. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
