St. Catherine University IA & MN Campus Compact VISTA

The mission of St. Catherine University to educate women to lead and influence. The Center for Community Work and Learning at St. Catherine University facilitates meaningful community engagement through course-based work, scholarship, student employment. Each year we connect more than 100 Twin Cities organizations with students and faculty across departments, disciplines, and degree levels. How we communicate, why, and how often matters, and part of this position will support our ongoing communications and marketing efforts. St. Catherine University’s America Reads students are employed as tutors at schools and community organizations working with youth on their literacy goals. Given the pandemic, we need to revamp our tutor program to include a hybrid (remote/in person) model. The Center supports tutors' leadership and skill development through ongoing training and reflection sessions. Project Goals: To increase the effectiveness of Community Work and Learning programs and operations by intentionally directing institutional resources to community partners and providing meaningful tutoring opportunities for both college students and K-12 students who come from low income and historically under-represented backgrounds. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
