Grinnell College: Public Humanities Partnership IAMNCC VISTA

The Grinnell Public Humanities Partnership strengthens capacity to amplify different voices and bring campus and community together. This project will: Connect those who might not otherwise be engaged in community-wide discussions, to be a stronger voice in their own community. By providing a broader platform to reflect on their own experiences, bring to light new issues that might not otherwise get attention, and influence civic discourse and priorities for community problem-solving. Take place in group settings, therefore opening the doors for new networks, connections, and relationships across the community. Purposefully plan Smithsonian exhibitions, programming, and events that can be accessed by campus and community. Including consideration for time of day offered, availability of childcare, reliance on high-speed internet, etc. This shifts the balance of who can participate and “who is welcome at the table. This project is part of the Community Corps VISTA Program, operated by Iowa & Minnesota Campus Compact. The program strives to eliminate poverty through campus-community partnerships by placing full-time capacity building support in nonprofit organizations and higher education institutions. ***Please also send cover letter and resume to supervisor. Interviews will occur on a rolling basis. Preference given to candidates who apply early.***
