The AmeriCorps member serving at Rockford University will work in the Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement and will have the opportunity to bring substantial change and support to populations in great need. The member will build capacity for our Holistic Student Support program, Civic Engagement and Your Career program, Blackhawk Neighborhood Revitalization initiative, and Racial Equity and Social Justice program. The member will develop two food insecurity and programs to support Pell Grant students. The member will build capacity for a Civic Engagement and Your Career program and lead the implementation of new platforms to track service hours. The member will take a lead role in coordinating a new racial equity and social justice program. The member will design community-engagement opportunities for our students at a new activity center in an economically stressed neighborhood. The biweekly living allowance for this position is $513.94 in Winnebago County. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide housing (on or off campus), meal plan on campus, fitness center passes, access to free or reduced courses, professional development (conferences), public transportation pass, food/grocery gift cards, and access to professional development & training opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at Rockford University will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at Rockford University will build capacity within the Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement, which acts as a resource for engagement and collaborates with community partners to help enrich the lives of community members. The member will be supporting four anti-poverty projects: a Racial Equity and Social Justice Program, the Blackhawk Neighborhood Revitalization initiative, the Holistic Student Support program, and a Civic Engagement and Your Career program. They will be developing programming for a new Racial Equity and Social Justice program on campus, designing community-engagement opportunities for our students in the economically stressed Blackhawk Commons neighborhood, developing assessment plans for two new Food Insecurity programs, creating a workshop curriculum for a Civic Engagement and Your Career program, with emphasis on engaging low-income students, and developing two new service hour tracking systems alongside the Director.
