T"The AmeriCorps member serving at Connecticut College - New London will support and enhance a high school mentoring program that helps mentees experience academic and personal success. The impact on Connecticut College and the New London Public Schools will be expanded partnership relationships, structures and capacities to implement extended academic opportunities for high school students. The AmeriCorps member will work to identify ways college resources can best support high school students. Additionally, the AmeriCorps member will research best practices for social-emotional learning, college access and career readiness programming. The biweekly living allowance for this position is 542.22 in New London county. In addition to the benefits listed, the host site will provide Housing (on or off campus), Meal plan on Campus, Fitness center passes, Professional development opportunities. The AmeriCorps member serving at Connecticut College will be part of a dynamic, motivated corps with Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA. Serving as a member of a corps provides the chance to connect with other members throughout multiple states, create a network of support, and to share resources. As the intermediary, Campus Compact, a national non-profit, supports the professional and personal growth of AmeriCorps members through a variety of professional development opportunities and in-person trainings including overnight retreats throughout their service year. Member Duties : The Campus Compact AmeriCorps member serving at Connecticut College - New London will build capacity will engage with professional staff from Division of Institutional Equity and Inclusion (DIEI) and the Holleran Center at Connecticut College, and our New London High School (NLHS) partners to identify ways College resources can be leveraged to position our high school mentees for success. Additionally, the AmeriCorps member will research best practices for social-emotional learning, college access and career readiness programming.
