Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 17 Host Sites, all that either work to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. This listing is to fill the Host Site opening at AHC Inc. located in Arlington, VA. AHC Inc. develops affordable housing while helping residents of their communities thrive. AHC offers a wide array of cradle to career educational programs and social services at their properties. These programs help residents build more stable and successful lives. AHC Inc. is looking for a motivated individual to serve as the Fundraising and Communications VISTA to fund the COVID and mission-related expansion of Resident Services programs while showcasing the evolving story, resources, and programs of AHC to funders, partners, and the community at a time of extraordinary organizational change. The VISTA member will work in a collaborative environment. They will focus on researching funders, writing proposals, writing funder reports, and standardizing practices in the GrantHub, a grants management system. The VISTA member will also develop targeted social media and communications campaigns that increase AHC Inc.’s visibility, showcase resident voices, and identify new community partnerships.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will research and identify grant and funding opportunities for the Resident Services Program, track proposal submissions and grant award information, and prepare briefing materials, funder updates, and other programmatic updates to support cultivation and stewardship efforts. The VISTA will establish data entry protocols as well as implement a training process on these data standards for Resident Services staff. In addition to these activities, the VISTA will spearhead AHC Inc.’s social media and communications efforts to increase program and service awareness, community engagement, and partnerships, communicating AHC’s story, successes and challenges through social media, press releases, researching/writing resident success stories, and contributing to other Community Relations activities.
