Virginia Housing Alliance - RA System Analyst VISTA
Virginia Housing Alliance’s (VHA) AmeriCorps VISTA project is a statewide intermediary project with 17 Host Sites, all that either work to expand affordable housing opportunities and/or end homelessness throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. VHA’s VISTA project aims to develop viable communities by promoting integrated approaches that provide decent housing, suitable living environments, and expansive economic opportunities for low and moderate-income persons. This listing is to fill the Host Site opening at Renovation Alliance located in Roanoke, VA. Renovation Alliance (RA) is a non-profit organization that brings together volunteers and communities to provide free, critical home repairs for low-income homeowners with a priority focus on households with people over 65, individuals with disabilities, veterans and surviving spouses, single-parent households, and homes with small children. One in three homeowners in the Roanoke Valley are housing cost burdened meaning that costly home repairs and maintenance are mostly out of reach. Renovation Alliance provides critical repair services and programs that help these individuals stabilize their home in order to create a living environment that improves their physical and mental health. However, RA does not have a robust system for tracking the impact of their programs on the homes and lives of their clients over time. Renovation Alliance is looking for a motivated, organized, detail-oriented individual to serve as the System Analyst VISTA on capacity building efforts to help establish new and review existing home review systems and data collection tools that quantify the impact of RA’s critical home repair program. These efforts will also include expanding community engagement, partnerships, and funding opportunities for their organization to increase and improve services.

Member Duties : The VISTA member will develop new and evaluate existing home repair evaluation tools that captures the efficiency and execution of an entire home improvement project and assesses the homeowners quality of life pre and post-home modifications. The data derived from these tools will in turn allow for better prioritization of home repairs. This formalized system will help RA identify and present impact data that the VISTA will use to drive marketing and outreach efforts across the community, ultimately increasing volunteer recruitment, sponsorship requests, funding opportunities, and corporate partnership development. The VISTA member will also help update procedures and processes through best practice research, develop feedback surveys for clients, improve and streamline referral services, and connect with other home repair agencies within the Roanoke Valley to strengthen their network and services to the community.
