Environmental Educator - Bonnyvale Env Ed Ctr/VHCB
 
 
 
Gain valuable experience serving with a team of naturalist educators fostering connections to the natural world through a variety of opportunities, including camps, school programs, public programs, volunteer opportunities, and the visitor experience. BEEC seeks a creative educator and nature lover, who enjoys working outdoors with children, with strong leadership and inclusion skills. BEEC is a member-based nonprofit organization founded in 1991, with a mission to foster experiences that inspire connection to the natural world and its many inhabitants. To achieve its mission, BEEC provides a variety of educational programs and initiatives to create an involved group of community scientists and caring stewards of our land. BEEC coordinates and leads important community-based natural history and conservation programs. BEEC’s school programs use the scientific process, hands-on activities, and outdoor experiences to help students learn about a wide range of life, earth, physical and environmental science topics. BEEC’s youth programs are for the young person who loves the natural world with the goal to foster a love of nature in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. The Environmental Educator will support and help develop these efforts. Some flexibility with position start and end date. This position is Quarter Time: Requires 455 hours of service for an average of 40 hours per week for 13 weeks. Member will receive a living allowance of $6,075 (pre-tax), and an education award of $1,718.25 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Member Duties : • Compile curriculum and materials for youth programs and camps. • Strengthen the visitors’ experience to BEEC through the stewardship of BEEC property, including serving with volunteers on trail maintenance and invasive plant management. • Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Trainings, Service Days, Events, and Program Initiatives. • Engage in professional and personal development activities and networking opportunities.
