Oregon Public Health Safety Net VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director. More information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, is here: http://healthoregon.org/vista. We will accept applications, conduct interviews, and select applicants on a rolling basis and selections will be finalized by May 7th, 2021. This position sits within the Policy and Partnerships unit in the Office of the State Public Health Director. You will work closely with our Community Engagement Team that supports 173 community-based organizations to provide culturally specific education and outreach to harder-to-reach communities as a part of our COVID response. You will also work closely with the team that is implementing our COVID recovery plan known as Healthier Together Oregon https://healthiertogetheroregon.org/. Both teams will work on building out our social safety net and focus on the social influences on health. Access to housing assistance and food insecurity are two key issues that are rising to the top. Some communities have experienced greater health and economic impacts from COVID. Part of the work we do with the social safety net is to help communities understand what supports are available to them. Another part is bringing agencies and organizations together that serve the same community, but may not be working together already to do so. The OHA VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce to broaden and deepen our work in the communities we serve. We strongly encourage candidates from communities of color, disability, LGBTQIA, and linguistically diverse populations to consider application to our positions. With the innovative public health work happening, Portland is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health.
