CCNYPA Juniata College-HCC Summer Associate
 
 
 
The summer food program provides free meals for local youth 18 years of age and younger, and can be purchased for a nominal fee for adults, ensuring a nutritious meal is available during the summer months. Camp HCC will provide healthy breakfast, snack, and lunch for youth in grades kindergarten through 6th grade. The community garden will allow the associate to encourage volunteers to cultivate food for donation to a local food pantry for distribution to families in need for fresh produce, as well as promote all of these programs within the community

Member Duties : The Associate will work to increase awareness of program availability -Coordinate distribution sites, and recruit volunteers -Provide coloring pages/activity pages explaining the importance of good nutrition and the positive impact on overall health -Contact and schedule speakers from the health and nutrition fields to hold presentations and/or create social media content or newspaper stories about nutrition -Organize games around the themes of health and nutrition -Teach volunteers safe food practices by watching instructional videos Offer training programs and provide educational material provided through government offices -Advertise in print and social media the opportunity to become involved and the personal benefits of volunteering as well as the benefits to the community Their efforts will positively impact the number of families in our community that struggle to provide healthy meals for themselves with the intention of decreasing food insecurities.
