2021-2022 Supportive Housing Pipeline VISTA
 
 
 
CSH, in support of the Chicago Continuum of Care (CoC), facilitates the Homeless Housing Expansion Initiative (HHEI) as a part of the CoC Action Agenda. The Action Agenda is a coordinated effort to decrease the rate of homelessness in Chicago. The Pipeline Expansion Work Group advances housing and service creation strategies to meet the needs of the Chicago The HHEI evaluates how proposed supportive housing development projects align with system goals. Chicago Department of Housing, Chicago CoC, Department of Family and Support Services, and Chicago Housing Authority support use of the HHEI to inform their decision-making on funding requests for supportive housing, rapid re-housing, and service resources that prioritize people experiencing homelessness. CSH seeks a VISTA to support key components of the Pipeline Expansion Work Group under the direction of CSH and All Chicago, who co-lead this effort. Ideal Candidates: • Have passion and commitment to social justice and individual empowerment. • Have Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Understand concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities. • Are able to work well independently and within a team environment, including racially, ethnically, and socially diverse colleagues and external partners This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : 1) Facilitating the Chicago Continuum of Care Homeless Housing Expansion Initiative application process. 2) Mapping and tracking new SH projects and City, State, and County funding allocations and priorities for supportive resulting from COVID response federal dollars. 3) Follow new COVID response federal funding announcements and allocations in the State of Illinois, Cook County, City of Chicago, and Chicago Housing Authority. Support CSH staff with TA and training efforts related to new supportive housing developments and initiatives emerging from new funding. 4) Outreach and education efforts to encourage new housing applications. 5) Create and implement a new online project tracking system. 6) Conducting data analysis on community housing need. 7) Making concrete connections between the work of the HHEI and Pipeline group to the Coordinated Entry Line of Work to make sure that groups are linked and on-board after receiving funding.
