2021-2022 Data and Evaluation VISTA

The Data and Evaluation Associate will build the capacity of the GPCC’s housing programs. GPCC is a community-building organization made up of dedicated residents and allies working together to develop leaders and create opportunities and programs that build a vital Garfield Park, a neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side that has experienced decades of disinvestment. GPCC focuses on four major areas of community renewal: housing, business development, wellness, and public safety GPCC currently offers housing counseling, works to reoccupy vacant homes through the Micro Market Recovery Program (MMRP), and recently purchased and preserved 40 units of affordable senior housing. The Data and Evaluation Associate will help to measure, integrate, and expand the GPCC’s housing programs, researching policy and funding opportunities while developing evaluation tools. The position will interface with community volunteers and organizational staff, creating and implementing new tools for program development and outreach. An ideal candidate for this position is someone who is a swift learner who can work on a variety of projects. This person needs to be able to work well with others, as well as with a diverse group of people including Garfield Park residents and organization staff. Experience with research and data analysis, housing services, or development is preferred but not required. Garfield Park is a primarily and historically African American community, and the Garfield Park Community Council seeks AmeriCorps members who display a commitment to racial equity and inclusion. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
