MTCC VISTA WELL Women's Business Center Outreach Coordinator

In partnership with Montana Technology Enterprise Center (MonTEC) University of Montana hosts a Women's Business Center. The center has a decentralized approach with the headquarters in Missoula. The Center hosts free business coaching and training program courses, and a robust online community/membership. W.E.L.L. (Women's Entrepreneurship and Leadership Lab) Women's Business Center builds educational, experiential, and entrepreneurial programs for Montana women to create more equitable, prosperous, and collaborative futures for all. Women entrepreneurs have long faced challenges launching and maintaining successful businesses – challenges made even greater in large, culturally diverse, and technologically sparse states like Montana. The goal of the project is to build relationships and awareness around WELL WBC programming, which helps support underrepresented women to consider self-employment, starting a business, or starting a new career. 15.4% of Montanans live at or below poverty, compared to 14.8% nationwide. This project will reduce poverty throughout Montana by delivering entrepreneurial programs, writing grants, and providing outreach to underserved, low- income populations on campus, in rural communities, and in Indian Country. With a primary focus on women, WELL Women’s Business Center understands that women make less money than men. Women also make up approximately 33% of entrepreneurs, whereas men make up 67%. W.E.L.L. wants to build upon previous work by not only increasing registrations within the entrepreneurial database, but by creating better opportunities and access to tools in order to serve women across the state.
