2021 Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Summer Associate
 
 
 
The Chicago Furniture Bank (CFB) partners with 350+ local social service agencies to furnish homes for those leaving shelters and moving into permanent housing. The CFB believe every person should be able to sleep on a bed, share a meal at a table, and do homework on a desk. The CFB currently furnishes 12 houses into furnished homes each day, and is the second largest furniture bank in the country. Through partnerships with Ikea, Amazon, Walter E. Smithe and many more, we allow clients to handpick the furniture they want for their home in order to provide dignity and comfort as they begin a new chapter in their lives. The 3 Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Summer Associates will research, plan and begin to launch the CFB’s volunteer program. Currently the furniture bank does have any volunteers. Our organization must create a strong volunteer program to continue to expand its capacity to meet the need for our furnishing program. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter, have interpersonal skills, and strongly believe in our mission. The CFB is a rapidly growing nonprofit, and candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup type environment. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : The Volunteer Recruitment and Engagement Summer Associate will be responsible for researching, strategizing and implementing volunteer recruitment, engagement and management strategy / procedures for the CFB. The Summer Associates will have full support and access to senior leadership whenever is needed, but should be able to work independently to execute on high-level tasks. Many members from the community wants to help the CFB in any way they can, and these Summer Associates are meant to organize and manage these individuals / companies to add the most possible value to the organization.
