2021-2022 Outreach and Data Specialist VISTA
 
 
 
Oak Park Regional Housing Center (OPRHC) serves the Chicago’s Austin and Garfield Park neighborhoods and suburbs in Proviso Township. Services include rental counseling and placement, homeowner education and counseling, foreclosure prevention, and financial planning education. In addition to the residential housing components, we provide education on the Fair Housing Act. This position entails outreach approaches to include surveys, phone calls, emails and in-person contact. It also entails updating and maintenance of databases. This position involves a significant amount of communication and forming a positive image of the agency. The position requires documentation and recording of measurable outcomes required to accurately outline the activities and successes of the agency. Experience working with databases is a must. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys social and community service and interacting with and assisting others. Must have good listening skills to identify others’ potential needs, followed by the ability to direct them to take the steps they need to address individual situations. Must build trust and maintain confidentiality to sensitive information. The position requires good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks to achieve goals. The candidate will need to have the ability work independently and work within teams The VISTA will work closely with the Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives Director and staff. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will, 1. Perform assigned research regarding fair housing and integration. 2. Collect data of clients, past clients, property owners and managers, donors, community partners, and media. Assess data to identify missing information and gaps. 3. Develop scripts and surveys for each audience. 4. Contact targeted audience by phone, email and mail for surveys and feedback. 5. Revise, build and improve contact lists. 6. Manage a table at community/church events to engage with community members and distribute information, many times on weekends. 7. Develop Community Resident Councils for integrated conversations. 8. Coordinate with staff to prepare for OPRHC’s fundraisers and other public events.
