2021-2022 Digital Literacy Specialist VISTA

The Northwest Side Housing Center is seeking a Digital Literacy Specialist to help staff improve their tech competencies to respond to the needs of the community in this digitally-driven pandemic. As a result of Covid-19, nearly all of our programs have moved to virtual platforms and NWSHC staff roles require more robust digital literacy than ever before to adequately serve the community. Specifically, our Business Development, Financial Coaching, Workforce Development, Parent Education, and Older Adult programs now all include a digital literacy component. As such, the Digital Literacy Specialist will also provide tech assistance to residents and community members by providing open office hours to residents seeking digital literacy training, sitting-in on cohort-based programs to offer support, and by building our long-term digital literacy training capacity by researching/reviewing digital literacy curriculum currently being implemented in programs. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
