UKanQuit provides one-on-one inpatient bedside tobacco treatment consultation at The University of Kansas Health System. Since 2006, when the program was founded, we have treated well over 15,000 patients. Our tobacco treatment specialists provide brief counseling and treatment planning. We provide an indepth training program online and/or in-person. Note: All activities will be conducted in accordance with public health safety recommendations. Counseling may be provided remotely until candidates receive a Covid-19 vaccine or until public health guidance allows in-person counseling. Counselors will provide remote care to all patients diagnosed with or suspected of having Covid-19.

Member Duties : Primary Responsibilities 1. Assess tobacco addiction level and nicotine withdrawal 2. Recommend medications to manage withdrawal while patients are in the hospital 3. Provide brief counseling and treatment planning 4. Collaborate with medical team to provide discharge medications 5. Proactively refer patients for follow-up support post hospitalization 6. Document encounters in the electronic medical record 7. Contact patients one month post discharge to conduct a brief evaluation survey 8. Participate in process improvement activities to enhance the delivery of services Qualifications ¿ Effective written and verbal communication skills ¿ Flexibility and openness to changing roles ¿ Ability to work cooperatively on a team ¿ Commitment to working with hospitalized patients and vulnerable populations ¿ Ability to work with diverse groups ¿ Willingness to learn and attend all trainings ¿ Tobacco-free
