2021-2022 Development Coordinator VISTA

NeighborScapes is a non-profit organization with a mission to strengthen the physical and social fabric of neighborhoods, and to create a covenant of care, enrichment and development for young people; and we are currently seeking a full year AmeriCorps Member to support us as we continue to grow and build community on the south side of Chicago. The full year position is for a Development and Communications Coordinator to create both a development and a communications strategy that amplifies public awareness of our work and inspires giving from donors. Through this work, NeighborScapes will be able to increase its capacity to deliver high quality programming and better show how the work is being accomplished. The day-to-day expectations for this position will include finding potential donors, assisting in maintaining current partnerships, creating communication templates to be used across NeighborScapes social media and website, and grant writing. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly, work remotely with guidance, be a self-starter, manage professional relationships, be a critical thinker, an excellent writer, and a person who is excited to support a small organization’s growth. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Learn more about the program at Housing Action’s website.
