2021 Resident Services Summer Associate
 
 
 
The VISTA will be working directly under our Resident Services Staff and assisting primarily with our summer Playstreets initiative, which will include a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 virtual community programs. These programs are focused on areas such as healthy cooking, arts and crafts, magic, seed planting and exploration of nature to name a few. We will be coordinating and collaborating with various community organizations such as Operamatic, The Nature Conservancy, Greencorps and Cooking In Between Bites. In addition, the VISTA will be assisting Resident Services with COVID relief including food assistance, rental assistance, and other financial support as needed. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps positions. Member Duties : The AmeriCorps Member will: 1. Conduct outreach and engagement with community members 2. Lesson planning with team for each virtual workshop 3. Coordinate invoices and payments for artists and vendors 4. Continue to foster relationships with community organizations. 5. Lead Chicago Cares volunteers in roles and tasks before/during and after Playstreet events 6. Assist clients with rental assistance applications 7. Manage database to monitor who has received rental assistance 8. Coordinate with families around food needs
