2021-2022 Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA
 
 
 
Housing Choice Partners (HCP) is located in Chicago, IL, and provides services throughout Cook County, Illinois, in addition to providing consulting on housing equity programming nationwide. The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with excellent people skills which will enable them to interact with people from various economic and social backgrounds. HCP’s mission is to help break the cycle of intergenerational poverty through the promotion of racial and economic diversity in housing. Countless families in our region face barriers to safe, affordable housing near resources that can help break the cycle of poverty, such as well-performing schools. HCP’s housing counseling and advocacy programs work with families with low-incomes to know their full range of housing choices, identify and overcome barriers to living in historically off-limit areas, and address systemic inequities to ensure that all families have access to the same range of opportunities. The Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA will increase HCP’s capacity by working with senior level management to implement program data collection and analysis strategies and mechanisms by which clients and program partners can provide meaningful input and feedback on HCP’s programs. In addition, the VISTA will work closely with HCP’s HCV Working Group, a collaborative advocacy group, to create and implement a recruitment strategy and orientation program that will increase the Working Group’s capacity to grow its work. This position is a part of the Housing Action AmeriCorps Network, which is an AmeriCorps VISTA program managed by Housing Action Illinois since 2010. As such, this position will receive customized training, support, guidance, and networking opportunities, in addition to the traditional opportunities for AmeriCorps VISTA positions. Member Duties : The Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA will increase HCP’s capacity to serve a broadened client base by measuring and effectively communicating HCP’s impact, and creating and implementing a recruitment toolkit for a working group co-coordinated by HCP. Work with senior staff to execute an organizational impact measurement strategy in order to conduct a thoughtful, complete, and efficient analysis of program effectiveness and impact on the communities we serve. Working with the Community Engagement Manager to create a recruitment plan, messaging, and an orientation tool for the Housing Choice Voucher Working Group, a cross-sector collaboration of housing advocates co-coordinated by HCP, that will provide consistent and streamlined processes for growing. Improve HCP’s existing marketing strategies and outreach materials and manage the organization’s social media accounts and e-newsletters to reach more clients and better communicate the value of HCP’s work and its accomplishments.
