CCMA U of Baltimore Food for Thought Initiative

The high cost of college tuition is placing a greater burden on college students than ever before. The Food For Thought Initiative responds to this issue by offering additional programming and resources beyond what is currently offered by the Campus Pantry. Through a series of workshops and educational programs, members of the University of Baltimore community will learn about financial security and food security, including topics such as: • Meal planning on a budget • Couponing • Food demonstrations • Economic travel/recreation tips The CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA Member will build campus and community partnerships to ensure that this project will be sustainable after the VISTA project concludes. The CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA Member will use data gathered from the Fall 2015 campus-wide food security survey, along with institutional data, to target the issues of greatest need for community members – particularly those who frequent the campus pantry. The CCMA AmeriCorps VISTA will also develop a peer connections program for participants.
