Research & Data Analyst VISTA

In 2015, the City of Memphis Mayor’s transition team developed a multi-faceted plan to reduce poverty, restore neighborhoods, and enhance communities. Many people talk about reducing poverty; we acted by executing and expanding on our plan from day one. VISTA resources will be used to improve internal systems for measuring outcomes of existing anti-poverty programs within Memphis and Shelby County. The VISTA will collect and analyze internal and external data and recommend researched-based best practices for alleviating poverty in metropolitan areas. They will develop a tool and system to evaluate internal and external community efforts of programs serving low-income households. The aim is to have measurements in place for each of the 10 components within the Mayor’s Better Memphis Anti-Poverty Plan. The ten components are: 1) Early childhood education and literacy, 2) Housing, 3) Hunger, nutrition and food insecurity, 4) Homelessness, 5) Asset building, 6) Aging and senior services, 7) Blight and trash in Memphis, 8) Population growth and developing the inner city, 9) Livability and environment, and 10) Parks, community centers, and libraries.
