El Monte Promise Community Outreach Fellow

El Monte Promise Foundation (EMPF) is a non-profit working to create a college-going culture in the El Monte/South El Monte Region. This is a dynamic, low-income, immigrant community that is predominantly Latino/a/x with a growing Vietnamese and Chinese population. EMPF uses the collective impact model to work with school districts, colleges and universities, as well as city governments, chambers of commerce and other community groups to actively coordinate systems and mobilize resources for the educational benefit of our youth. EMPF works in three key areas to support our students and families with their college goals. ¿ Scholars Savings Program - to help families open and sustain 529 college savings accounts. ¿ Financial Literacy and Education - to help families improve their understanding of financing a college education. ¿ College-Ready resources - to help families and children at every grade level to follow the path to college. The El Monte Promise Community Outreach Fellow will work with our Director and Outreach Coordinator to help our community become more active and engaged with preparing for their future goals, including identifying areas where student populations are underserved and developing systems and programming to help address identified needs. Fellows will work alongside elected officials and school district leadership with opportunities for mentorship. Ideal candidates have work experience with youth at varying grade levels, must be fluent in English with a preference for fluency in Spanish, Vietnamese and/or Chinese, and experience in community outreach. Bachelor’s Degree is strongly preferred. El Monte Promise Youth Advocacy Fellow will earn a living allowance of $18,127.20 - $20,522.32 yearly salary with an additional housing allowance of $300/month upon verification of leasing agreement. Fellows will also be eligible for the AmeriCorps VISTA Fellow education award after a full year of service and mileage reimbursements.
