BBBS Volunteer Recruitment VISTA
 
 
 
To build the capacity of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Mid-South, Inc. (BBBS) by developing a sustainable alumni engagement, advisory council, and volunteer recruitment to increase the number of at risk children served. BBBS “at risk” beneficiaries are defined as children of single or incarcerated parents, children in guardianship or foster care. Through BBBS, this population receive educational, social, and emotional support through a positive mentoring relationship to help break the cycle of poverty. BBBS offer two mentoring models, the Site/School-Based mentoring program and the Community-Based program. As of March 2020, the agency pivot programs to totally virtual platforms to adhere to city, state and federal mandates. The BBBS Volunteer Recruitment VISTA will develop a process of alumni/volunteer engagement including development of policies and procedures regarding volunteers, recruitment strategies, a mechanism to track volunteer hours and productivity, and a measurement of agency and volunteer satisfaction.

Member Duties : Strengthen volunteer capacity by increasing participation and engagement of mentor alumni to support with service delivery. Incorporate model to develop a system for researching, tracking, and engaging former BBBS Ms. “Littles” and “Bigs” as volunteers and/or donors. Strengthen capacity by developing a structured volunteer/community engagement plan. Create a formal inclusive volunteer recruitment and community engagement strategy with timelines, costs, needed resources, and assessment tools. Create a formal volunteer retention strategy with timelines, costs, needed resources, and assessment tools. Build a foundation towards the establishment of a Big Advisory Council and program assessment. Create a strategy with timelines, costs, needed resources, and assessment tools to establish a Big Advisory Council. Develop a performance management system for the outreach, recruitment, and engagement strategies.
