ServeWyoming AmeriCorps VISTA Leader

ServeWyoming exists for “The enhancement of community and the empowerment of citizens through the development and promotion of service opportunities. To accomplish this mission, ServeWyoming promotes collaborative efforts among private, non-profit and governmental agencies and organizations at the municipal, county, and state level that will advance community service, volunteer programs and activities. ServeWyoming is centrally located in beautiful Casper, WY. Casper offers the best of what you are looking for with gorgeous mountainous terrain just right for hiking and exploring, lakeside water activities, winter sporting opportunities (skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling), ample hunting and fishing all with the comfort of small-town life and access to major highways and the international airport for travel. The VISTA Leader position offers the opportunity for former national service members (those who have completed a full term with AmeriCorps, NCCC, VISTA or Peace Corps) to engage in a return to service in the unique “wild” west that is Wyoming. They will have the opportunity to build strong networks and travel across this amazing state as well as advanced training opportunities both locally and nationally. Be a part of a wonderful Wyoming venture, forming a statewide network of service aimed at alleviating poverty in Wyoming. This program helps communities and individual organizations with capacity building issues related to volunteer support services. All with the comforts of a metropolitan area and the great outdoors right at your fingertips.

Member Duties : This assignment focuses on expanding volunteer engagement, funding capacity, and member training across Wyoming. The member will develop and enhance statewide support systems and professional development opportunities for VISTA members serving across Wyoming including develop resource guides and toolkits, identify opportunities for meetings with members and community members, and providing peer to peer support to Wyoming VISTAs through structured mentoring and training. The member will additionally develop tools and frameworks for sustainable volunteer engagement systems that VISTA members can utilize to expand services to low-income populations and strengthen long-term capacity of VISTA projects and host organizations.
