Restoration Associate - Vermont Land Trust & VHCB
 
 
 
Vermont Land Trust’s mission is to conserve and foster connections to the farms, forests, and community spaces that define us. This position will focus on hands-on restoration service from stewarding riparian buffer areas on conserved farms to implementing stream crossing and dam improvements and everything in between! Member will also support data tracking of restoration project performance and coordinate volunteer groups to assist with restoration projects. Position is Half Time (915 hours). This position is part of the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board AmeriCorps (VHCB AmeriCorps). The VHCB AmeriCorps program supports the innovative dual-goal approach to creating stable affordable housing opportunities for Vermont residents while preserving the natural and working landscape. VHCB AmeriCorps is a national service program that places members with non-profit housing or land conservation organizations around the state. Position begins April 6 and ends October 10, 2026 This position is Half Time: Requires 915 hours of service for an average of 40 hours per week for 6 months. Member will receive a living allowance of $16,147 (pre-tax), and an education award of $3,697.50 (pre-tax) upon successful completion of service. Other benefits include health insurance, federal school loan forbearance, and various training and networking opportunities.

Member Duties : ·Implement riparian buffer plantings on conserved farms. ·Physically flag riparian buffer areas to aid project planning on conserved farms. ·Tend, maintain and monitor riparian buffer projects by watering, string trimming, tracking project success, inventorying trees, and reporting on projects. ·Implement and adaptively manage additional restoration projects including instream wood addition projects, wetland restoration projects, stream crossing improvements, and dam removal projects. ·Record data on restoration project performance for operations and maintenance, planning, internal tracking, and reporting purposes. ·Coordinate and supervise volunteers including undergraduate and graduate students and community volunteers to assist with planting and other restoration projects. ·Participate in an Independent Service Project ·Participate in all VHCB AmeriCorps Program Initiatives ·Engage in professional and personal development
