CCNYPA Slippery Rock University's Butler Coalition VISTA

The primary focus of this VISTA project is to create the structure for a interagency, cross-sector approach with the goal of maximizing organizational resources and leveraging assets across organizations to more effectively and efficiently meet immediate needs of persons experiencing poverty and develop a shared vision for removing barriers/root causes for poverty in Butler County. In addition, this project will offer best practices, training and technical assistance to build the capacity of the individual government, educational, faith-based and nonprofit organizations which currently address poverty-related issues experienced by Butler County residents. Financial literacy and stability, housing, food security, educational attainment, job readiness (including job training, soft skills training, mental health support), child care, and sustained employment are among the service delivery areas offered by human service organizations across the county. This project also seeks to leverage, through direct and indirect service, the intellectual and human capital available through Slippery Rock University faculty, staff and students to build capacity of organizations involved in the Anti-Poverty Coalition.
