Connecting farmers in the areas right near Geneva and service organizations within Geneva to a centralized meat and produce purchasing collective, EBT/SNAP clients will have expanded choice for healthy foods and will outlay less of their family funds to obtain those items. Training volunteers to reach out to clients, manage marketing, ordering, and processing will allow the operation to build with very low overhead. An existing food access survey instrument indicates that lack of grocery options in Geneva’s food desert area is a key driver of households spending more than they need to (in both time and money) to access essential needs. Volunteers will be guided by the VISTA to collect and maintain client data that can be indexed against the existing food access survey to track improvement over time. These data points can be shared with other service agencies to continue to innovate anti-poverty programs within those agencies
