*Applicant will need to provide Covid-19 vaccine documentation* Programs for West Philadelphia entrepreneurs and small business owners include B Smart, which leverages Drexel faculty’s and community partner organizations’ expertise to build small business capacity and provide access to capital; the Business Idea Group (BIG) [1] which meets monthly for business owners to network; business coaching to refine budding business concepts; and Quickbooks classes for entrepreneurs, business owners, and freelancers. Together, these programs form a continuum of services that reached 64 small business owners last year, 20 of whom participated in more than one program. The VISTA will help create/strengthen opportunities for low-income individuals to develop workforce knowledge and skills that will meet the needs of employers.

Member Duties : In year 3, the VISTA will work to: build and expand on existing program partners’ participation while adding new partners; Support program administration (e.g., program application, coaching engagement platforms); Support the program evaluation including tracking outcomes; Support communications and outreach for all Beachell Family Learning Center programs; Support the relaunch of a portfolio of workforce and adult education programing. This selected Project Focus Area/Project Priority—Advancing Racial Equity & Support for Underserved Communities—will impact the community and fulfill anti-poverty goals by helping to develop campus-community efforts in this area and mutually beneficial partnerships between the campus and community organizations, and foster the VISTA as a professional/emerging leader in the fields of community development and civic engagement.
