PCCE- Drexel University (Dornsife Digital)

*Applicant will need to provide Covid-19 vaccine documentation* The digital divide is a persistent obstacle to work, education, and public life: think of all the essential tasks we do online, like applying for jobs; applying for benefits and services; communicating with local, state, and federal representatives; selling products as an entrepreneur; banking; staying in touch with family, etc. The VISTA will assist Drexel and partners in assessing, creating, and implementing tools that support children, caregivers, seniors, and other adults through technology services/platforms, access to low-cost broadband, training, and additional programs based on findings of Y2 project. The VISTA will help create/strengthen opportunities with Drexel for low-income individuals to develop workforce knowledge and skills that will meet the needs of employers while also supporting the expanded digital needs of students.

Member Duties : The Y3 VISTA will work closely with the Office of University & Community Partnerships and Drexel’s ExCITe Center to support the coordination of cradle-through-career digital inclusion efforts in the West Philadelphia Promise Zone. Currently, Drexel is providing support to K-12 students and their families through the Promise Neighborhood grant both in school and through community partnerships, remote technology support, and refurbished computers for community members through the ExCITe Center’s Digital Navigators hotline, and face-to-face support through the Beachell Center computer lab and technology training courses. This blended approach to digital inclusion is designed to meet community members where they are both physical as well as in their digital literacy learning. Support from the VISTA will include supporting evaluation efforts, branding and outreach, program design, and research reviews. The VISTA will be exposed to program partners that serve both K-12 students and adults.
