CCNYPA Drexel (Dornsife Arts) VISTA

Our proposed project relates to the programming priorities of Education/K-12 Success in student educational and behavioral outcomes in low-achieving schools (including remote learning program development). This VISTA will help enhance access to services and resources that contribute to improved educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged children, targeting communities with large concentrations of low-income students. These services/resources will focus on community arts and culture programming The arts and culture programming at the Dornsife Center is intended to enrich and improve the lives of the Mantua and Powelton communities by offering related opportunities. The primary benefit to the community is that the programming provides access to arts education for children and families in neighborhoods where the poverty rate exceeds 50 percent. Classes are inclusive to children dealing with physical and intellectual barriers. In these ways, the programming strongly aligns with the Dornsife Center’s mission to enrich the lives of participants dealing with health and financial challenges. Children and youth are encouraged to find their creative voice, and are afforded opportunities to connect with their peers and the community, leading to greater K-12 Success
