Associate, VISTA Horizons Student Enrichment Program-STL

Horizons St. Louis in Kirkwood began in 1970 under the name SPROG which touched thousands of lives in Kirkwood over the past 50 years by providing youth (KG-5th) with cultural education and recreational activities during the summer. Our students are recommended from the Kirkwood Public School District and meet the requirements of: (1) receive free and reduced lunch, (2) perform below grade level (verified by teacher), and (3) be eligible to attend Kirkwood Public Schools. Our students experience a six week program experiencing an exciting blend of hands-on academics, arts, culture, and recreation. They learn to create, imagine, and dream; all while building fundamental reading and math skills they otherwise may have lost during summer vacation. They also learn to swim, transforming a fear of water into a favorite summer activity. This is the Horizons St. Louis in Kirkwood experience! This is an opportunity for motivated, committed individuals who are passionate about making a difference and receiving beyond entry-level responsibilities. Because of this, the candidate should have some background of volunteer service as well as the desire to take on challenging responsibilities that will enable them to make an impact on the community. This is an AmeriCorps VISTA position and the individual will work directly with the Operations Director of the Horizons program.
