Ending Hunger in Maine - Alan Day Community Garden, Norway

We believe that all people should have access to nutritious and affordable foods. For the last several years we have understood that 1 out of every 5 children in our region is food-insecure. During this pandemic Maine food pantries have reported a 50% spike in demand for food assistance throughout the state. ADCG serves the Western Foothills region, which as of December 2020 has 148 children receiving TANF and 4,758 individuals receiving SNAP benefits. These numbers of course do not reflect the thousands of individuals in our region who are in need of assistance, including those eligible and non-eligible for federal assistance programs.
