Experience Corps - Early Literacy Team

Phoenix Public Library has a team of literacy specialists that present story time programs and parent workshops, conduct school visits, participate in literacy fairs and other events in the community on behalf of the library. We conduct more than 3,000 programs a year. For families with children birth to age five, we focus on coaching parents to support their child’s early literacy skill development. Our programs are aligned with state standards for Early Learning and Kindergarten Readiness. For example, more than 800 preschoolers will attend Kindergarten Bootcamp each year with their parents to learn about the critical skills for school success. For school-age children, the focus is on school visits to create excitement around books and reading, and to educate teachers and students on all the free resources offered by the library. Our team is a creative, supportive and fun group of professionals dedicated to improving educational outcomes for Phoenix children.
