WV Food and Farm Coalition
 
 
 
The VISTA will work with existing and emerging food and farm businesses to increase their viability, profitability, and sustainability by coordinating and providing them with toolkits, training, technical assistance, and business planning. The Coalition works with a diverse set of food and farm businesses across West Virginia including food hubs, small scale farmers, cooperatives, restaurants, value added food producers, institutional food buyers, community supported agriculture projects, and farmers markets. Additionally, the Coalition is coordinating the development of foodsheds in West Virginia. This includes the people that make up the food system, including producers, consumers, and marketers, as well as the infrastructure that makes up the food system, including production land, aggregation and distribution efforts, producer cooperatives, schools and other institutions, and markets. The VISTA member will also expand the ability of farmers markets to implement the SNAP-Stretch program for low income residents.

Member Duties : The member will focus on community outreach and engagement to support the development and expansion of the SNAP-Stretch program assisting local farmers markets in creating marketing strategies and materials to publicize the availability of the SNAP-Stretch benefits to low income residents.
