22-23 South Whidbey Schools Farm and Food Educator

Since 2014, the South Whidbey School District has been growing fresh vegetables using organic practices integrated with farm-based curriculum. The students are the farmers, and school farm-grown produce is harvested for the school lunch program, used in culinary lessons, and eaten on the spot. Produce is also delivered to our non-profit partner Whidbey Island Nourishes for their school snack program and family supplemental meal program, as well as to other community non-profit partners. Our members work closely with the certified farm teacher and the school farm manager to grow the produce and to support our students in hands-on learning, farming, cooking and healthy eating. We will hold interviews in May, 2022 and our program will begin on September 1, 2022. This position is contingent on funding. This position is open until filled.
