OHA HIV Alliance Education and Outreach VISTA

This position joins the Oregon Health Authority’s statewide VISTA team. In addition to activities at your individual site, each member receives additional orientation, training throughout the year, team retreats and meetings, and the support of the team leaders and project director based at the state public health agency. For more information about the Oregon Health Authority VISTA Partnership Program, please visit: http://healthoregon.org/vista. Selections are made on a rolling basis and early applications are strongly encouraged. HIV Alliance’s Education Program strives to help prevent new HIV and Hepatitis C infections through audience –tailored educational presentations and at-risk educational outreach. Specifically, HIV Alliance’s Education Program achieves its mission by presenting HIV/HCV education to middle and high school age youth, youth in treatment and corrections, and LGBTQ+ and Latinx youth groups in Lane, Marion, and Douglas Counties where communicating HIV and Hepatitis C information is not only important, but also necessary within Oregon’s mandated education curriculum. By conducting outreach to these communities, HIV Alliance helps alleviate poverty and health education disparity by providing free youth education to low-income communities, schools, and rural areas and through sharing follow up resources and sexual health information, and encouraging youth to engage in free testing resources. By choosing HIV Alliance’s Education Program as your VISTA site you get to be an important part of a team that provides meaningful and necessary health education. With the innovative public health work happening in Oregon, Eugene is a wonderful place to explore a future in public health. The OHA VISTA Partnership Project is committed to building a diverse workforce. We strongly encourage candidates from communities of color, disability, LGBTQIA, and linguistically diverse populations to consider application to our positions.
