NY State Council on the Arts Resource Development VISTA
New York State COVID Response is an initiative to build capacity of agencies to improve employment, food security, and economic opportunity outcomes for New Yorkers dealing with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) is the sponsoring agency. NYSCA is an executive agency of New York State. NYSCA upholds the right of all New Yorkers to experience the vital contributions the arts make to our communities, education, economic development and quality of life. Through our core grantmaking activity, NYSCA awarded $43.8M in 2020 to 2,500 organizations statewide. NYSCA funding supports the visual, literary, media and performing arts and includes dedicated support for arts education and underserved communities. NYSCA further advances New York's creative culture by hosting convenings with leaders in the field and providing organizational and professional development opportunities and informational resources. The VISTA member will be provided with training and research materials regarding the arts field, government data strategies and will have an opportunity to meet with staff to learn about NYSCA’s grantmaking work processes and the work of the arts field. This introduction will provide valuable insight into a public arts funding agency and its practices, values and goals. The VISTA member may conduct all tasks including training entirely remotely (and initially will be required to do so) and therefore applications from members who will reside anyplace in NYS can be accepted. If extent feasible later in 2021 under state and agency mandates, the VISTA member may also optionally work from a work desk at the NYSCA offices in NYC. Desired Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Arts or Nonprofit Administration, or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
