School Redesign Fellow for DC Public Schools
 
 
 
The George Washington University (GWU), the sponsoring organization, is seeking a School Redesign Fellow for DC Public Schools (DCPS) to serve the DCPS Partnerships and Design team in the Office of School Improvement and Supports (OSIS). Washington, D.C. With a strong record of developing reciprocal, respectful, active, and democratic partnerships, GWU works with the DCPS to place AmeriCorps VISTAs in under-resourced schools across the District. Key attributes for a successful School Redesign Fellow for DCPS: • Desire and ability to work effectively in an urban school environment with teachers, school administrators, parents, and students • Knowledge of and experience with data collection and analysis • Ability to create innovative solutions to address problems faced in under-resourced schools • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and make a work plan • Adaptability, flexibility, and willingness to learn from experience • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Member Duties : The School Redesign Fellow for DCPS will increase the capacity of the DCPS Partnerships and Design team in the Office of School Improvement and Supports (OSIS) which aims to develop the educational opportunities for at-risk populations through the development of new research, identification of best practices, and creation of new tools. The VISTA’s activities will increase the support provided to OSIS, external organizations, and schools in developing and managing goal-aligned partnerships. •Engage in ongoing empathy efforts with stakeholders to support the development of a sustainable Equity X Design mindset and approach to work. • Implement Community engagement efforts and communications for Anacostia and Ballou High Schools in alignment with Redesign developments • Revise communication plans as needed, based on feedback and collected data. • Revise progress monitoring plans as needed, based on feedback and data
