Experience Corps - My Brother's Keeper (MBK)
 
 
 
AmeriCorps Members will serve as community liaisons/advisors and will work closely with local school administration and local student support teams to create a tier two level of support for students having difficulty with social and emotional needs that interfere with their ability to be successful in the classroom and with their peers. This support may include one-on-one emotional support (checking in with students regularly), providing group interventions with student dealing with social/emotional concerns like emotional regulation, social boundaries, healthy relationships, prosocial decision-making, and virtual groups on an array of relevant topics. Members will also assist students and families to increase access to outside resources such as food, clothing, medical and behavioral health care, housing or similar resources. Members will work closely with the Family and Community Engagement Manager and will support the PXU Falcon Family and Community Resource Center. Current contracts are available at 675 hours, 450 hours, and 300 hours.

Member Duties : This opportunity is in partnership with the City of Phoenix Youth and Education Office and Phoenix Union High School District (PXU). Members work in collaboration with PXU Administration and Community Liaisons to connect parents, staff, and students to resources, on campus social emotional support programs, and community agency referrals. Networks with various agencies to support the needs of students and staff. Works with the Family and Community Engagement Manager to organize workshops and training opportunities for parents staff and/or students on various topics as identified by data. Supports PXU Falcon Family and Community Resource Center and distributions. Members work with diverse student and socio-economic populations.
