2024-25 New York State COVID-19 Response VISTA Leader

New York State COVID-19 Response VISTA Project builds the capacity of state agencies to improve economic and health outcomes for vulnerable New Yorkers dealing with the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. The New York State Commission on National and Community Service sponsors this collaborative project with the help of a VISTA Leader who supports in a variety of ways a cohort of up to seven VISTA members serving at distinct state government agencies to combat the impact of COVID-19 on vulnerable communities. The role of the VISTA Leader is to work closely with the VISTA Project Director in building capacity for the program by mentoring VISTA members, providing resources, information, and actionable items, and coordinating team-orientated activities to foster collaboration and interconnectedness. The VISTA Leader position requires an innovative, motivated problem solver who has excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. To be successful in this role, you must be skilled at relationship building, able to work in diverse teams, and committed to improving the lives of others through national service. To be eligible to serve as a VISTA Leader, you must have previously completed a full term of service in AmeriCorps VISTA, AmeriCorps State and National, AmeriCorps NCCC, or the Peace Corps while demonstrating exemplary skills and leadership. The VISTA Leader will serve in the office of the project sponsor, NYS Commission on National and Community Service, in Rensselaer, New York. The project sponsor will provide the VISTA Leader the additional benefit of an unlimited bus pass to travel to and from the service site and around the community.
