TSC VISTA 2021: Say Yes Buffalo
 
 
 
The Service Collaborative (TSC) VISTA Program mobilizes AmeriCorps VISTA members to function in organizations, government agencies and educational institutions. Members focus on expanding educational opportunities, ensuring economic opportunity for all and creating healthy futures for the residents of low-income communities. Our goals are to strengthen communities across the state and to allow organizations within them to better provide services to impoverished individuals and families. The Service Collaborative VISTA program has partner organizations in New York State and across the country. During their term of service members will receive support from our VISTA team at The Service Collaborative of WNY. Our support includes monthly trainings, a social network of fellow members and daily support from VISTA leaders.

Member Duties : Since its inception in 2011, Say Yes Buffalo has created a continuum of “cradle-to-career” services and supports, including a citywide Summer Camp initiative aimed at enhancing academic growth, promoting health and wellness, and keeping children safe. The VISTA member will work closely with the Say Yes Buffalo’s Extended Learning Time team in managing the Summer Camp initiative. More specifically, the VISTA’s focus will be on Summer Camp 2.0, an enhanced version of this city-wide initiative, piloted in 2019 to further accelerate academic outcomes for students. The VISTA member will expand and diversify funding for the Summer Camp 2.0 initiative by identifying funding opportunities, researching prospects, preparing grant applications, and submitting grant reports. Additionally, the VISTA will help determine how to effectively incorporate the new administrative tasks associated with Summer Camp 2.0 into the overall Summer Camp work plan.
