Member Duties : The member will work within the Housing and Family Law Units at NLS, and assist clients who face unsafe housing conditions, eviction and homelessness, and/or domestic violence. The member will work with NLS attorneys and paralegals who staff homeless prevention programs, as well as those advocates who provide legal assistance at the Family Justice Center. The role of the member will be to interview tenants facing eviction, unsafe housing conditions and/or domestic violence, determine their eligibility for NLS services, ascertain their goals, and help to identify legal or negotiation strategies to achieve those goals. In addition, the member may take part in community outreach events. The member will have the opportunity to provide financial coaching and financial literacy training to NLS.
