FNW Southern Nevada Stewardship and Outreach Assistant
 
 
 
900 hours, six month term, full-time position. Monday-Friday 8 am-4 pm, days and hours may vary. Selected candidate will receive a stipend $1229 per month and upon successfully completion the member will receive an Education Award $3,097.50. Friends of Nevada Wilderness Southern Nevada Stewardship and Outreach Assistant will assist southern Nevada stewardship and outreach program both in the field and in the office with volunteer recruitment, outreach and stewardship events in the Las Vegas area. The member stewardship component consists of promoting, recruiting and managing volunteers in stewardship events as directed by land managers. On the ground work includes, habitat restoration and native vegetation planting. The candidate will also record accomplishments and complete data entry after project. The outreach component will consist of attending and assisting outreach events. This may include speaking at public events and tabling at various locations to promote the work Friends of Nevada Wilderness does and recruiting volunteers. Hands on involvement with the Wild & Scenic Film Festival and promotion will also be included.

Member Duties : Mon-Fri 8 am-4 pm may vary; some weekends will be required. Must be able to hike 10 miles will 40-50 lbs pack and enjoy the outdoors. The member will Assist in implementing volunteer stewardship trips, effectively communicate with volunteers, and promote and maintain an exceptionally safe environment for volunteers, ensure proper implementation of projects, monitor past restoration work to evaluate outcomes, identify outreach opportunities, participate in volunteer recruitment activities such as tabling at community events and give presentations about FNW and current volunteer opportunities to community events, clubs and organizations. Will distribute and maintain posters and fliers about FNW stewardship projects throughout the community, update volunteer and media contacts in database, name, edit and store photos from stewardship program trips and events, provide photos and written content for FNW email and newsletters, maintain accurate and timely preparation of project files.
