Breakthrough Collaborative AmeriCorps

Breakthrough Atlanta pursues a dual mission to place highly motivated, underserved students on a path to college enrollment and success, and to inspire the next generation of teachers and education leaders. Breakthrough Atlanta is an affiliate of the Breakthrough Collaborative, a network of 24 organizations all dedicated to creating a nation populated by transformational learning communities, where equitable access to excellent opportunities propels aspiring students on their path to college and aspiring teachers on their path to the classroom. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, and pursuant to our Collaborative Standards and strategic plan objectives, Breakthrough Atlanta began to provide student support services (case management) to identify the needs of students and their families, and to identify and connect families to community resources in order to remove barriers to student academic progress and participation in Breakthrough’s academic enrichment programming. The objectives of the Student Support Services Program are to: - Provide student support services to Breakthrough middle an high schoolers and their families that removes barriers to their full participation in schooling and the Breakthrough Atlanta academic enrichment programming - Build rapport with student participants and their families in order to be viewed as a reliable and trusted support system - To enlist a qualified volunteer corps to support students academically and through social-emotional learning during the school year and summer
